It is a seaside resort with few permanent residents that has historically been associated with the Palace of Petrobei Mavromichalis, which stands imposingly overlooking the sea. It goes without saying that if you want to explore the most beautiful cave in the world, then the Diros cave is for you. You will tour the cave formed hundreds of thousands of years ago, boating and seeing stalactites-stalagmites, thus living a magical experience that will make you feel awe.To the southeast and passing through amazing parts of the laconic Mani, Gerolimenas will pique your interest, a coastal settlement with crystal clear blue seas and a view of Cape Tainaro, addressed to all those looking for quiet hospitality and relaxation. Finally, one cannot miss Vathia, one of the most photographed areas.Not by chance, of course, but because it has towering towers, very close to each other, which served to fortify the settlement from the dangers of the time. It is built on top of a hill and is a monument of Mani's architectural tradition. One thing is certain, those who visit Laconian Mani will be seduced by its unique physiognomy, which seems to have been left over from another century.

Sparta

Sparta, the capital of the prefecture of Laconia, is a modern city with many inhabitants and a long history. According to Homer, it was the seat of Menelaus and for this reason it is still referred to by many as the city of Menelaus and the Beautiful Helen. Although the new city was built in the distant 1834, its neoclassical past remains unchanged over time, making its presence felt. The distances in the city are short, so one can walk and admire its center, where the emblematic City Hall dominates and steals the impressions. Certainly, a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Sparta with the many ancient finds of the 20th century, to the Commanderio Gallery where the oil paintings of painters are housed and of course to the Olive and Olive Museum which is intertwined with the identity of this blessed place, should not be missed. Very close to Sparta, is Mystras, an archaeological site of a fortified Byzantine city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, the ruins of fortified buildings emerge, some of which have been restored, and attract hundreds of visitors every day, as well as many well-preserved churches, each with its own history.The citadel of Mystras is without a doubt the most imposing monument, a place rich in history that is still being studied by archaeologists. It is worth going back, as it is a unique sight. Overall, Sparta is a popular destination and to reach it, one will follow one of the most impressive routes that will surely reward even the most demanding traveler.
